Paragliding in Sarangkot

Paragliding is a entertainment activities.Paragliding is a recreational and competitive flying sport.Paragliding is as close to the feeling of flying like a bird as you will ever get.It is free flight (non-powered) in its purest form. A paraglider is a foot launched flying wing. It is convenient because it is easy to carry, easy to setup, and easy to fly. Paragliders are constructed from nylon and coated with silicone (UV protection). The pilot is suspended from incredibly strong mylar or kevlar lines. The pilot flies in a harness positioned like a reclining chair for maximum comfort in the air. When flying, you can actually soar like a bird- taking advantage of rising air in the form of thermals or ridge (wind) lift.
As many countries in the world,paragliding is also conducted in Nepal.Sarangkot is the place of Nepal where paragliding is conducted.It is situated north side of pokhara valley and phewa lake which attract both internal & external tourists nowadays.The sarangkot falls under eight most adventurous places for paragliders in the world. In order to fulfill the adventurous desire the paragliders from USA,POLAND,RUSSIA,FRANCE,etc.come here every year.The most suitable environment for paragliding is in 500 m high & in wind speed of 10-15 km/hr which is easily available here in sarangkot during oct-feb.This adventurous sports formally started from 1992 in sarangkot.Generally the organisers take around $100 for 30-40 minute fly for foreigners.With the increasing interest of the foreign tourists in paragliding,the local travel agents have started the paragliding tournament from 1999.The 9th paragliding tournament is going to be held on dec 20-dec 22 in sarangkot. The paragliding landing spot is in khahare of pokhara.Travelling with paragliding & seeing beautiful lake phewa ,is more exicited subject for tourist.This activities also help to earn foreign currency for tourists.
